Our story, our purpose.

A registered non-profit working to promote the rights and improve the lives of people with disabilities in Rustenburg.

From one home to a centre for the whole community.

Tsholetsa Disability Care Centre was founded in 2012 by Richard Kgosietsile Tlhogwe, at the back of his home. He had noticed that people with disabilities were not receiving enough support and were not taking part in socio-economic activities.

That observation became a mission. Today the centre runs advocacy, education, research and service activities, and offers skills development programmes that help people build independence and income.

Our mission

To promote the rights and improve the lives of people with disabilities. This is achieved through advocacy, education, research and service.

Our vision

A place where people with disabilities are fully included and have equal opportunities in education, employment, healthcare and business.

Accessibility, inclusion and empowerment.

These three commitments shape every programme, partnership and decision we make.

Accessibility

Every physical and digital environment is accessible and designed to meet the needs of people with disabilities.

Inclusion

People with disabilities are included in all aspects of society and have equal opportunities to participate and contribute.

Empowerment

People with disabilities advocate for their own rights and have the support they need to achieve their goals.

Four areas of work.

Our activities combine advocacy, education, research and direct service to support people across their everyday lives.

Advocacy

Speaking up for the rights of people with disabilities and helping them to be heard.

Education

Teaching practical, life and business skills that open up learning and work opportunities.

Research

Learning from the needs of our community so that our services stay relevant and effective.

Service

Practical, day-to-day support for people with disabilities and the communities they live in.
